Distance Shouldn't Determine a Child's Future

A child’s future should never be defined by where they are born.
Yet for millions of families, geography remains one of the greatest barriers to accessing quality pediatric healthcare. Specialized hospitals and pediatric centers are often concentrated in large cities, leaving rural and underserved communities in Colombia with limited or no access to the care their children need.
For parents living hours away from the nearest specialist, a medical appointment can mean long journeys, missed workdays, additional expenses, and difficult decisions. In many cases, children who need to see pediatric cardiologists, neurologists, or other specialists simply do not receive timely evaluations.
The consequences can be life changing. Conditions that could have been detected and treated early may go unnoticed for months or even years, reducing treatment options and increasing health risks.
At Findaway4Kids, we understand that access to healthcare involves much more than medical treatment. Through our partner organization, LPR Foundation, and its “Dare to Believe” (Atrévete a Creer) program, we support families who travel from rural and underserved communities in search of specialized care for their children.
The program provides lodging and food assistance to families while their children receive treatment in hospitals, helping ease the financial and emotional burden that often accompanies long distances and extended stays away from home. This support allows parents to remain by their children’s side during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
To date, more than 6,100 families have benefited from this initiative, receiving not only essential support but also hope, comfort, and the reassurance that they do not have to face these challenges alone.
Because no family should ever have to choose between accessing lifesaving healthcare and meeting their most basic needs.
