Early Detection. Stronger Beginnings. Saving Lives Through Newborn Cardiac Screening.

Since 2020, Findaway4Kids has been part of the Global Health Initiative (GHI), a program developed in partnership with the Global Health Department of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital with one clear objective: reducing infant mortality through newborn cardiac screening.

Many congenital heart defects are not visible at birth. A baby can appear healthy, while a critical condition goes undetected.

That is why pulse oximetry screening, a simple, safe, non-invasive test performed after 24 hours of life, is essential. Using a soft sensor placed on the newborn’s right hand and one foot, oxygen saturation levels are measured in just a few minutes. Those few minutes can change the course of a life.

Through a structured implementation model that combines medical training, equipment donation, hospital partnerships, and local health authority engagement, the program has expanded across Colombia to 37 active hospital sites in 12 regions, with additional sites in progress

Many hospitals are consistently screening between 85% and 100% of newborns, demonstrating strong adoption and measurable impact

To date, more than 160,000 children have benefited from early cardiac screening. Early detection allows for timely intervention, significantly improving survival rates and long-term quality of life. What began as a collaboration is now a growing clinical network working to make newborn cardiac screening a standard of care — not an exception.

This is not just about medical devices. It is about building systems that prevent avoidable deaths and give every child a healthier start in life.
